Volleyball Club

Academy Volleyball Club is our high-performance hub, dedicated to rigorous training and competitive excellence. With thrice-weekly practices and 8 to 10 tournaments a season, including inter-provincial and cross-border matches, it's designed for those committed to taking their volleyball journey to the next level. Our Academy athletes cultivate not only advanced volleyball skills but also a deep sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship on a broader stage.

    From a young age, Faith Sahota was immersed in the world of volleyball, a journey that saw her honing her skills year after year. Her early passion for the sport led her to play at RE Mountain Secondary, and later, under the mentorship of one of the province's top coaches, Ritchie Mallerie at BC Youth Volleyball Club. This foundation propelled her to further her volleyball journey at Capilano University at the post-secondary level.

    Off the court, Faith discovered her love for coaching alongside her mother, a well-respected figure in the local volleyball community. Through years of assisting her mother, Faith gleaned invaluable insights into coaching, nurturing a growing enthusiasm for guiding other athletes.

    Faith’s coaching voyage blossomed when she joined the Volleybox community. Over the past year, she has ascended to become one of the lead coaches at Volleybox, bringing a blend of experience and innovative coaching techniques to the club. Her recent tenure as the head coach of the U15 Academy team showcased her ability to mold young athletes into competitive players.

    The apex of her coaching career thus far came when she was honored with the 2023 Volleybox Coach of the Year Award, a testament to her dedication and impact, as recognized by the Volleybox athletes. This accolade underscores Faith’s unwavering commitment to fostering the growth and development of young volleyball enthusiasts.

    With a rich legacy both as a player and a coach, Faith Sahota continues to be a beacon of inspiration and guidance within the Volleybox community, shaping the future of the sport with every serve, set, and spike.

    Entering her fourth year at Volleybox, Nikki Cornwall has seamlessly transitioned into her role as the Managing Director, bringing a wealth of experience both as a seasoned player and a dedicated coach. Nikki's journey began by representing Team BC from 2008 to 2013, after being selected to Volleyball British Columbia’s High-Performance program. Her prowess on the court led her to the Canadian Women’s National Volleyball Team in 2015, further being honoured as the Team Captain in 2017.

    Before venturing into her professional playing career in Germany and Finland in 2018, Nikki made a lasting impact at Trinity Western University as a National Champion, MVP, and a two-time Academic All-Canadian. She also earned a spot twice on the Conference All-Star Team.

    Joining Volleybox Sports Centre in September 2020, Nikki initially took on the mantle of Youth Development Director, meticulously crafting programs for recreational and high-performance youth athletes, while overseeing the professional growth of the centre’s coaching staff. Her recent endeavour as the head coach of the Academy Volleyball Club U18’s team exemplifies her enduring commitment to nurturing young talent.

    As a Managing Director, Nikki continues to foster a nurturing environment for both athletes and coaches at Volleybox, drawing from a rich athletic heritage and a profound love for volleyball. Her multifaceted sports background, including a notable stint as a soccer player, complements her holistic approach towards athlete development, making her an invaluable asset to the Volleybox community.

    Kalissa Beltran's volleyball odyssey commenced with the Academy Volleyball Club, where she showcased her mettle from U16 to U18, culminating in a stellar Division 1 Tier 1 Canadian National Championship victory. Her prowess didn't stop there, as she also clinched a Provincial Championship, etching her name as a formidable player in the club circuit.

    Her outstanding performances caught the eye of multiple universities, leading to her commitment to Simon Fraser University (SFU). As she navigates through her final season at SFU, Kalissa's dedication extends beyond the court into academics, where she's poised to graduate this December with a degree in Public Health & Special Education. Throughout her academic and athletic journey at SFU, Kalissa has been a part-time coach at the Volleybox Sports Centre, where she quickly ascended to become one of the top coaches, revered for her ability to intertwine theoretical knowledge with practical volleyball acumen.

    Kalissa’s recent coaching accolade includes steering the Academy Volleyball Club's U13 team to a remarkable second-place finish in the Provincial Championships. Her continuous growth as a coach is further illustrated as she enters her third year with the Academy Volleyball Club, now embracing the role of the 18 & under head coach.

    With a profound understanding of the sport, honed by her distinguished playing and coaching stints, Kalissa Beltran continues to be an emblem of dedication, growth, and excellence within the Volleybox community. Her journey reflects a blend of athletic prowess, academic diligence, and a nurturing coaching philosophy, making her an invaluable asset to the Volleybox Sports Centre and the Academy Volleyball Club.

Cloverdale Volleyball Club is tailored for those seeking a balanced blend of training, local competition, and community engagement. Practicing twice a week with 5 to 7 provincial tournaments a season, it offers a conducive environment for developing skills and enjoying the game close to home. Cloverdale provides a supportive setting for young athletes to grow, compete, and forge lasting friendships within our local volleyball community.
